Lokvishwas Pratishthan

Lokvishwas Pratishthan is a non-profit  Non Government Organisation (NGO) working in the field of disability since 1981. It is committed to the welfare and education of the differently abled (Hearing Impaired, Intellectually impaired and the Visually Impaired) children in Goa. In 1981, Lokvishwas Pratishthan made its modest beginning by setting up a residential school for the  Hearing Impaired children, in a rented premises in Bandora. This was the first  school for handicapped students in Goa. In 1999, the section for mentally challenged children was opened. The next stage was the school for the visually impaired, which was inaugurated in 2001. The main premises of Lokvishwas Pratishthan are located at Dhavali, in Ponda taluka, which houses two schools and a higher secondary section for Hearing Impairment, a school for the Visually Impaired, a Teacher’s Training Centre for training Special Teachers (with a admission strength of 25), and a school & Day Care Centre for the Mentally challenged.
